The public is invited to explore compassionate communication with speaker Dawn Harju at the February 14 meeting of the Anacortes Branch of AAUW. Hospitality is at 6:45 pm and the program begins at 7:00 pm at the Anacortes Public Library. Compassionate communication, also called nonviolent communication, focuses on self-empathy, empathy, and honest self-expression. People who practice compassionate communication have found greater authenticity in their communication, increased understanding, deepening connection and conflict resolution. Dawn has a contagious way of inviting people to be their best selves, and she is deeply committed to strengthening the fabric of goodwill around the globe. The American Association of University Women’s mission is advancing equity for women and girls through research, education, and advocacy. The Anacortes Branch was started in 1956 and has given more than $75,000 in scholarships to local women. For updates, check our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/AnacortesAAUW/
