Join us this Earth Day at Deception Pass State Park! We will be removing an invasive species that is aggressively outcompeting native plants in our sand dune habitat at West Beach. Around the Salish Sea, European beach grass directly impacts a number of native plant species including American dune grass and Yellow sand-verbena. Yellow sand-verbena happens to be the sole food source of the Sand-verbena moth, a species endemic to our region. This restoration effort is important to our park to allow space for native plant species to repopulate the sand dune habitat and, in turn, stabilize the natural ecosystem. We hope to see you there!
